Στις 17:00, σήμερα Σάββατο, ξεκίνησε αντιφασιστική πορεία στην Ομόνοια εξΆ αφορμής της συγκέντρωσης της Χρυσής Αυγής στην πλατεία Ρηγίλλης δεκαεννέα χρόνια μετά την τραγωδία στα Ίμια.
Εκατοντάδες διαδηλωτές βρίσκονται στην οδό Σταδίου με τελικό προορισμό την πλατεία Συντάγματος, με σκοπό να διαμαρτυρηθούν ειρηνικά για κάθε φασιστική συμπεριφορά στους κόλπους της ελληνικής κοινωνίας. Οι διαδηλωτές κρατούν πανό με αντιφασιστικά συνθήματα, η κυκλοφορία στην οδό Πειραιώς έχει διακοπεί ενώ αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι δεν δεν υπάρχει MAT ενώ οι αστυνομικοί είναι άοπλοι, με τις θήκες των όπλων τους άδειες.

Here’s summary of a momentous election result for the future ofGreece and Europe:

• The anti-austerity far left party Syriza has won the Greek election by a decisive margin, but just short of an outright majority. With more than three-quarters of the results in Syriza is projected to win 149 seats in the 300 seat parliament.
• Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras said his party’s victory marked an end to the “viscious cycle of austerity”. Referring to the neoliberal conditions set by the IMF, the European Commission and the European Central Bank, he said: “ The verdict of the Greek people renders the troika a thing of the past for our common European framework.”

Greek main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras delivered his main speech in Omonoia Square

Greek main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras delivered his main speech in Omonoia Square, downtown Athens, ahead of the upcoming January 25 general elections. Addressing an audience of thousands of SYRIZA supporters, Tsipras appeared confident that his party will be victorious after the polls close on Sunday, while he requested a self-reliance mandate from Greek voters in order to form a strong government. In addition, the main opposition leader directly attacked Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his policies.

Tsipras opened his speech by saying that Greece will not only have a SYRIZA victory on Sunday, but a historic triumph of the people “who will defeat fear and pain. Who will punish its terrified terrorists.” Furthermore, Tsipras referred to a page break and a change of an era.

“No matter what you were voting until yesterday; [We proceed] all together, to roll up the sun again over Greece. The sun of justice, the sun of democracy, the sun of dignity. All together, because poverty does not discriminate. Unemployment does not discriminate. Despair does not discriminate. ‘Padlocks’ do not discriminate. All together, because united people cannot be defeated.”

The European Union’s institutions are holding a series of vigils this morning to honour those killed in yesterday’s terrorist attack on the Paris office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Carrying placards reading “Je suis Charlie” dozens of people paid a tribute to the victims of the satirical newspaper “Charlie Hebdo”, a days after the massacre that left 12 people dead and 10 injured. The solidarity meeting took place outside the French Institute in downtown Athens.
